Hardwick is a census-designated place (CDP) in Baldwin County, Georgia, United States. The population was 3,930 at the 2010 census, down from 5,819 at the 2000 census, at which time it was listed as Midway-Hardwick. It is laid out around Central State Hospital. It is part of the Milledgeville Micropolitan Statistical Area. The zip code for Hardwick is 31034. Hardwick was home to Oglethorpe University during the 19th century.

As of the census of 2000, there were 5,819 people, 1,868 households, and 1,277 families residing in the CDP. Thepopulation density was 1,046.8 people per square mile (403.8/km²). There were 2,223 housing units at an average density of 453.2/sq mi (174.8/km²). The racial makeup of the CDP was 25.02% White, 72.56% African American, 0.43% Native American, 0.64% Asian, 0.31% from other races, and 1.03% from two or more races. Hispanic orLatino of any race were 0.58% of the population.
There were 1,868 households out of which 34.2% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 31.0% weremarried couples living together, 30.3% had a female householder with no husband present, and 31.6% were non-families. 25.5% of all households were made up of individuals and 6.3% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.64 and the average family size was 3.17.
