Sparta is a town in Hancock County, Georgia, United States. The population was 1,522 at the 2010 census. The city is the county seat ofHancock County. It is part of the Milledgeville Micropolitan Statistical Area.

Sparta was founded in 1795 as seat of the newly formed Hancock County. It was incorporated as a town in 1805 and as a city in 1893.
